The project "Development of a Breast Cancer Early Detection and Screening Prototype Using Virtual Reality (VR) Technology" led by Assoc. Prof. Nuran Akyurt (ADT-2023-10809) achieved great success by winning a total of 8 awards in both oral and poster presentation categories in the competition announced by the Turkish Medical Radiotechnology Association (TMRT-DER) from March 12 to April 30, 2024.
A ceremony was organized to present a plaque of appreciation to Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt for his contributions to the project, which has attracted the attention of the scientific community. The ceremony took place at Marmara University Göztepe Campus, in the Rector's office, with the participation of the President of the Turkish Medical Radiotechnology Association (TMRT-DER) Mehmet Erkek and his delegation, university administration, project team, and the awarded students. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, in his speech while receiving the plaque, stated that such projects reflect the scientific and academic success of the university and said, "I am honored to receive this meaningful plaque. Such achievements demonstrate our university's competence in scientific research and the potential of our students. I congratulate the project team for their great success."
Speaking at the plaque presentation ceremony, project leader and Marmara University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Nuran Akyurt touched upon the details of the project, stating, "The 'Development of a Breast Cancer Early Detection and Screening Prototype Using Virtual Reality (VR) Technology' Project offers innovative approaches in its field and provides significant contributions. The awards we received once again proved the importance of our research." Akyurt expressed her gratitude to Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt for his support and guidance throughout the project and mentioned that he played a significant role in bringing the project to this point.
Turkish Medical Radiotechnology Association (TMRT-DER) President Mehmet Erkek emphasized the importance of supporting such projects, saying, "Supporting scientific research and innovation will contribute to the development of our country. Erkek noted that the studies conducted within the scope of the project have garnered great interest not only in the academic community but also in the healthcare community and the medical imaging sector.
