SABIOTEK Digital Transformation in Healthcare Workshop Held

The "Digital Transformation in Healthcare Workshop," organized by the Health Biotechnology Excellence Joint Application and Research Center (SABIOTEK)—a collaboration between Marmara University, Yıldız Technical University, and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa—was hosted by Marmara University on Wednesday, April 3, at the Mehmet Genç Campus.

In her opening speech, Prof. Dr. Rabia Çakır, Deputy President of the Turkish Health Institutes, expressed gratitude for the universities' pioneering role in the project and assured continued support for participating students.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz, Rector of Yıldız Technical University, encouraged the young participants by stating, “These initiatives are what we all need. You are creating wonderful things, and we provide endless support. One of your responsibilities is to stand tall and advance boldly in the field of health biotechnology because you are leaders and pioneers.”

Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın, Rector of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, highlighted that the digitization of hospitals would make the services provided by healthcare professionals faster, more reliable, and higher quality. He expressed his joy at being able to discuss and evaluate this roadmap.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Rector of Marmara University, remarked, “Today, discussing the digital transformation in healthcare with many valuable scientists under this roof might offer an opportunity for self-criticism in some aspects. More importantly, it will ensure that this transformation reaches the areas that need it most. As both an academic and a person, I am more excited about scientific research in health being innovative and benefit-oriented. I believe that a powerful project like SABİOTEK will achieve successes far beyond the targeted results. I sincerely thank all the project contributors and colleagues who made this workshop possible.”

In the foyer area of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to explore virtual classroom laboratories compatible with ChatGPT, which allow them to access and study in virtual environments replicating the physical laboratories of Marmara University and University College London.
